My HP g7 laptop suddenly has problems with the brightness adjustment. I usually change it by using the topmost third and forth keys on the keyboard. I am pressing them now and nothing is happening. It was working fine just yesterday. I have tried some of the suggestions I have read on this board, and cannot come to a solution. The computer did some upgrading to windows 8.1 yesterday, and I have been having this problem since. I also try to adjust the brightness via settings-brightness and it is not working either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am pretty computer illiterate, so please go easy with the terms.

Boot device option problem in HP Probook 4540s Laptop..
Hi,
I have installed Fedora20 in my Laptop in a separate partition. After installing it is showing
"Boot loader has not verified loaded image"
"System compromise hault"
error and system went to power off state.
To recover this I need to choos the Boot device in the Boot device option in BIOS as Fedora then it is booting Fedora20 OS.
But in this case, in Boot device option I am getting more Fedora option with the Windows Boot Manager, Boot from EFI options.
Please suggest what is the issue with my Lap and what I need to do to recover this problem.

Windows 8.1 on brandnew notebook wants 32Gb for the recovery drive
Hi,
Bandnew notebook, switched on for the very first time.
First thing I want to do after setup, is make a recovery drive.
When choosing this option, the notebook prompts me for a flashdrive of "at least" 32Gb.
How can that be since it's brandnew?
And more importantly, how can i recude that amount of memory needed ?
USB performance and disk access is so terrible on that notebook that I'll have to wait for hours!

Simple Mistake and it's GONE
Hello. I hope someone can help me please: I've managed to "Kill" my hubby's Laptop. It's only 11ish months old and we've been really careful and use Avast Security which we've used for years on others.
To be able to use SKY Sports It said that Silverlight wasn't working (although it has always been ok before). So, I went onto Download.com and downloaded it. It installed fine. But, 4or 5 other things came with it. Avast said it had detected them so I wasn't too worred. I went into "remove files" but they just wouldn't go. I then did a "System Restore" for December. It took ages to do it and then told me it was unable to. It then went onto a Black screen. We tried switching it off and back on many times. It allows you to sign in as usual and then brings up the black screen. Can anyone help as I feel pretty foolish and bad that it's my hubby's laptop.

I had recently got my mother board replaced due to some issues.Before that the laptop was working perfectly fine.
After replacement,my lappy's serial number and model was referring to another 3rd gen laptop and my Device Manger was showing two devices " 3D Video Controller " and " PCI Device " under the tab " Other Devices ".Previously I had NVIDIA graphs card but now I am unable to install the necessary graphics driver.I re-installed OS but in vain.

hotkey not working on win 8.1
Hi.
After i reinstalled windows on my laptop, hotkeys fo adjusting brightness, dont work. others like volume adjust and play/stop for music works perfectly. I tried to find driver to fix this problem but for win. 8.1 on you site o didnt find anything, only for win 7, im not sure if it will work on win. 8.1 too. I after reinstall a found one more problem with touchpad, it cant recognized all gestures but for this i found proper driver for win. 8.1....
So i ask you for help with my problem.

Trouble with operating system software
Please help... I got a error code saying "boot device not found please install an operating system on your computer Hard Disk (3f0) F2 System Diagnostics" I took it to get it checked and they told me that the hard drive is fine but there's a problem with the operating system software. How do I fix it?

Microsoft Office Registration Problems
I recently had to wipe my laptop due to software hangups and files that were deleted.
I used the HP recovery software that was preinstalled on my laptop. I made the backup on my 32GB thumbdrive and I was able to sucessfully able to wipe it. When I tried to open Microsoft office, which was preinstalled, it is asking me for the registreation number.
I have checked the box it came in and I am unable to find the number. Is there another way I can find the number?

Cannot order HP 2000 Recovery disk

I tried to follow the steps in

But the link prompts me to https://wildcat-service.cce.hp.com, which seems to have invalide certficate, and I don't see the filed to enter my SN number, and at the end of the order, I cannot complete the order no matter what credit card I used.

My HP 15-R029WM notebook won't turn on
So I used my laptop on Friday, and I went to turn it on today and it wouldn't come on. I charged it last night so I could use it for class today and it wouldn't turn on. I took the battery out for 5-7 minutes, put it back in and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened . I plugged it up to the charger and let it charge and tried, nothing. I just got this laptop for Christmas and haven't had any other problems with it! I need help because I have class work due tonight! Thanks in advance!

Can not download drivers from hp support site
I recently reinstalled windows 7 to fix an Issue with some corrupted windows files. Now I need to reinstall my drivers but to do that I need to download them and I simply can't download them from the HP support site with product dection or the manutal method I get a loading logo and it just sits there. I think it is just for my computer because I tried random computers and I could actually see the drivers to download( i did not actualy download them i just wanted to see if the problem was on my end or hps.) I have tried google chrome, Internet explorer 8(still installing some windows updates) and firefox.
