Installing an operating system
I have an HP 2000 Notebook PC 2000-2d70DX. Bought it cheap on Amazon and after a week of use, the operating system just went away; the pc now comes up to a blue screen that says "Boot Device Not Found. Plese install an operating sytem on your hard disk. Hard Disk (3FO)" ....My question is: Can I copy an operating system onto a disk and install it onto this Notebook that way?? I have a disk that has a copied operating system on it, but when I put it in and turn the Notebook on it is not recognizing it. It is coming up to the same blue screen with the same message. Why isn't it recognizing the disk and loading it??

How to update BIOS on Linux
Hi,
My laptop (HP Probook 4440s) is in the list of laptops with BIOS updates related to security issues [1].
But I am running Linux, for which no update seems to be available [2], while there is a BIOS update available for Windows [3]?
Could anyone tell me how to get and apply this update via Linux..

unable to find bluetooth option on change PC setting in windows 8.1 pro
I always keep my bluetooth off in my pc, one day i want to use my pc bluetooth but i was unable to find buletooth option on my pc then i check my device manager it look that every thing is ok, i don't know what is the problem is my pc that bluetooth option is not showing and i am using windows 8.1 pro 64 bit and my pc modle I'd is 15-eo17AU

HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC factory reset 0xC004C003
Hi,
Today I did a factory reset of my HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC,
After the reset, I get a watermark : Windows 8.1 Build 9600.
When i look at my system information, windows told me that my PC is not activated and the faultcode is 0xC004C003.
How can i solve this problem.

I have been given a used laptop with Vista Home Basic system. Grandkids cannot recall the last password they used so I am locked out. I am not PC literate other than to turn on and check emails and Google search. Is there any way I can get into the system to use and possibly change the password? I have read on earlier blogs that fault numbers or halt numbers appear after 3 unsuccessful attempts to enter the password but this is not happening when I try this ( not sure whether those blogs apply to Compaq Presario models or not).
Any help would be appreciated.

MY HP Envy17 will not turn on all of the way... the circle keeps spinning
My HP ENVY 17 inch screen will not turn on all of the way, the circle keeps spinning, I waited a half an hour and it still
won't turn on all of the way. Also I sign in with 4 numbers and that screen will not come up as the circle is still spinning. What is wrong with this computer? I bought it due to the excellent comments on the Amazon website that people posted about the laptop; it sound like an excellent laptop and my first one. It is also wireless.... I looked up the return policy and I had until 1/31/15 to return this and now it is 2/3/15, I have only used it about 5 times and it has been two weeks since I open it up today.. What can you do HP to solve my problem; I bought this computer with the guarantee of an excellent product . PLEASE HELP ME... I am stressed as I need this for a new business I am starting...
I just checked it, it has been a half an hour since I checked it and NOW THE LIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF... I have really had it now... PLEASE ADVISE ASAP...

How do I download the Windows 7 drivers to disc?
The original OS on my wife's HP Pavilion was Windows 8. We both agreed that 8 had to go. I tried to load Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 onto the computer, but was unsuccessful. I was then told by the Geek Squad that Windows 7 could be installed over 8, but there was a good likelyhood of functionality loss due to 8's unique drivers. I then went out and replaced the hard drive so that I could load Windows fresh. The install of 7 went fine, but i have no drivers for Internet connection, usb, nothing. I want to download the drivers on another computer and save them to blue-ray disc, NOT install them on the downloading computer. I need the drivers themselves, NOT the driver installer setup. I already have the setup, but it won't work without an internet connection. Please advise

Pavilion dv7
I have pavilion dv7, so far I had no problem. Now, when I login it logs in but then instead of showing me the home screen, it goes into blank black screen. It has just started to happen and I hope there is another way to make it work without rebooting the whole system.

Just purchased this comuter and I and my wife are learning how to use it. We are having a problem and need some help! I use enternet explorer to get to my banks site. I log in and when I try to pull up my bank statement so that I can print it a pop up window appears and wants me to download Foxit PhantomPDF.
Did not know that it is already installed on my computer until I checked my programs that were already installed. How do I get it to run so that I can pull up my bank statement on banks site so that I can print it? I don't need to download it again do I?

Error Screen of Death
Sorry if I'm putting this in the wrong category, but this is the third time I am receiving this message on my computuer:
I have gotten this message about three times in the last two weeks. What happens is that I will be working on my computer, and this pops up over the entire screen. My pc will then go to restart. One time it closed everything. These last two times, it has gone completely black, and then go back to what it had been - none of my windows closed.
Can someone help me?

**Repost on dif. board** Blue Crash Update Error Screen...and other "misfunctions"
Why does my laptop keep on crashing, or showing BSOD? It happends maybe like...15-20 minues after I turn it on, or, if it's been on for about a whole day (plugeed in), after about 10 minutes it shows the screen. It's getting really annoying and I usualy use my laptop for homework, (and I'm not going to lie xD) Pandora and games. If my laptop is crashing 2-3 times a hour, how am I going to get anything done. I got this for my bnirthday last year in July, so, it's been 6 months. Also the store hasn't been working since September. This blue screen stuff just started this month of January 2015. So I don't understand what's going on... Also Mozilla Firefox started showing errors after the crash saying something about a proxy server. So now I can't use it without turning off the setting *No Proxy*. Which is odd, because I used to never need to worry about the internet. Everyone says Chrome is better so I wanted to try it myself, because since about 2012, Mozilla was our primary browser, but when I tried to use it, it had the same proxy server nonsense. The laptop has been fine since I've had it, up to this month...I don't know what happened.
When I use my laptop the sites that are usually opened are atleast 3 the following:
-Schooloop.com
-Micromarching.com
-Pandora.com
-Transformice.com
-Sites trying to figure out how to fix the above ^ ^ problems.
I hope I was able to provide enough information about my situation.
Please help ASAP. I've started a research project and my laptop is about to be my connected twin for the next couple months.
I also was just reminded that my Laptop is 8.1, so i fixed that ^ ^ ^. I believe the store hasn't been working since an update betweeen 8 and 8.1 or simply the the update from 8 to 8.1.
But Iegit forgot if my laptop came with 8.1. During Fall, there were alot of changes and things going on when I used it so. Meh.

I finally tried Steam (around mid fall) from the urge of my friends for years, and games lag terribly on the laptop. It's so horrible, it's ridiculous. I had this COD game from the store, back when it was working, I was so excited. Looking to the future (from the past) I would think about during amazing reports and excellent homework, and then on the weekends i would just chill, maybe do homework if there was, and play a relaxing game on my laptop (COD...how Ironic xD) I don't know what I'm going to do now..
Games that functioned perfectly/flawlessly:
-Parking Mania
-(somewhat) RCT3
-Thie wierd zombie game
-Bus Driver ^o^
So in recap:
-BSOD and update error nonsense since Jan.2015
-Store not working since early fall
-Mozilla messing up since Jan. 2015
-Action games, that are like detailed such as Tom Clancy or Call of Duty (COD) lag terribly...like..omfg.Ew.
I didn't think these were big problems, but today was the last straw with the crashing thing. I just like, I guess, raged inside. So ttyping about this brought up all the other misfunctions with my product.
So there you go...again... I honestly hope I provided enough information and detail to my situation.
So PLEASE, help me!

Fn key not working
My notebook OS is currently Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview Build 9926
The Fn key is not working . I downloaded the relevant drivers and installed in compatability mode but it still doesnt work.
I checked the bios and that seems to be fine (enabled)
I would be pleased with any suggestions
I had the same problem with The Touchpad but was able to sort that by doing the same thing - (drivers in compatability mode)
