Hi all, 

I have a HP laptop, just literally out of warranty, it was fine, it then asks to restart your PC to do a HP update.
Then the fun begins...... I get a HP logo and the words - please wait while we perform a system update.

Many hours on HP help line, tell them I'm a novice, get sent a you tube link to do bios - this doesn't seem to work, and now HP say, well we will have to repair and charge me to repair my laptop. Which incidentally was fine before the update.
This seems massively unfair and seems a bit suspect, the product is not fit for purpose and should have at least 2 years cover. It cost 700.00 , you now want 328.00 to repair. I am disgusted.

Unable to change time zone

I have a new HP laptop and have set up a user account for myself. I am on the east coast but the time zone is set to Pacific Time. I have the option checked to set time and time zone automatically. When I go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Change Time Zone, and I try to change the time zone, it says I do not have permission and to contact an administrator. But when I go to Control Panel > Manage Accounts, my account is an administrator. How do I change the time zone and/or why does it not know my account is an administrator account?

HI Everyone,

 

I hope you are doing safe and sound !!

 

I need your expertise regarding an issue I have been battling with. I have a new "HP ELIEBOOK 830 G7" model and overtime we are trying to PXE boot that model it is not getting the IP during the PXE boot. We did some research and found that we need to include NIC driver for this model in the boot Wim to let it have the IP during the Winpe Stage.

 

Can someone please help me finding how we could find a valid NIC drive for this model which is specific for this model to avoid making any mistake. Is there a wy or tool that can help me decide this?

 

Hope to have someone experience help me out with this.

my school has a donated HP laptop locked by BitLocker, no way to get the recovery key

this is an older laptop that was donated a few years ago to my school.  We cannot get a recovery key to unlock BitLocker, nor can I re-install Windows 7.  Is this device trash?

Bought a used hp laptop. When i went to factory rest it it got stuck on 46%. I read on another post on her to restart computer. So I restarted computer and it said reboot not complete. I pushed okay it went ahead and was re installing windows. One of my kids turned it off. When i turned it back on it now says" the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows. Click ok To restart the computer, and then restart the installation".  I pushed okay and the computer restarted and the same message came back up. In the background it just says HP and the dot circle thing going on and says preparing. Help me please im not a computer or it wiz.


Warrany is expired for a laptop that is purchased less than a year ago

HP Support,

 

Today I have validated the warranty and the validation page says it is expired, however my laptop has been purchased less than a year ago. I tried to dispute the warranty in different browsers i.e Firefox and Explorer and attached the invoice snapshot in PNG format, however after pressing "Dispute Warranty" button, it is in an endless loop and never takes it to the support/Warranty team to review.

 

Can you please be able to help?

sd card reader errors OMEN Laptop

Hi
I own a new one OMEN Laptop - 15-dh1012nf / Windows 10 Family bought on France HP Store, new one for this one replaces a former one warranty exchanged by HP Store for sd card reader errors...
Inexplicably the two PCs encounter random operating errors on the SD card reader, device Genesys Logic: sometimes sd card is not recognized, sometimes it is, sometimes Windows Events Viewer show error disk on it.
I upgraded to BIOS F.14 Rev.A, the Genesys Logic driver is ok with the newest version.
Is this device Genesys Logic known as hardware with errors?
I give up relaunching HP Store for a new replacement...

both chrome and egde browsers will not open

once i turned on my laptop, i got a blank screen which was sopn fixed wit5h auto repair, then after the auto repair, i could open everything except google chrome and microsoft edge i am really concerned because i do not want to wipe my laptop

HP Omen Laptop Battery does not charge past 90%

Hi, 

 

This has happened before and it magically got fixed but happened again now. The charge on my computer is stuck at 90% and I plug in my charger and it says plugged in but that is it. It does not say charging. The diagnostic test says that the battery and AC adaptor are both "ok" and passed. When i unplug the charger, the battery goes down like normal and when i plug in the charger again, it goes up but stays at 90% and does not say "charging". Any ideas?

 

- Also, i just got a message from the diagnostic, it says HP has detected that the battery care function setting in your BIOS is set to 100%. HP recommends that you change this setting to 80%. Reducing the battery care function setting to *0%, will help minimize premature battery wear and help provide optimal battery health. over the life of the battery. It can be modified in the F10 BIOS setting under Battery Care function. Should i do this? and where is it because i searched Battery Care function in my search thing on my computer and nothing pops up 


Screen shows glitches on boot after showing windows symbol

I bought a new hp laptop 15-rb006nia and installed a new windows 10 2004, but when i upgraded my drivers and installed some apps like IDM, adobe acrobat reader, chrome and other few i needed and then turn off the system for some while and turn it on i see glitches, i tried uninstalling the display driver and updating it and it's still the same. And also my battery does last more than 2hrs 30minutes. Please can anyone help me on how to fix this problem?

Well Recently I tried to dual boot my pc with ubuntu-18.04.5 with live usb..after all the required installation is over..

I entered into windows boot manager by clicking f11 key when startup and clicked "use a device" and opted for ubuntu and entered..but then there's a error

The selected boot device is failed.Press Enter to continue...

I tried many ways to rectify it

 

Some of them are

1.Opened command prompt as an admin and tried to fixboot but not done..Moreover "access denied" msg is coming.

2.Tried to reinstall ubuntu by uninstalling it(completely) ..did it multiple times..there is no use The same error is arising

3.Moreover I  changed the bios settings and tried to boot into ubuntu..then also the same error is coming

4.I also entered into ubuntu through live usb and conducted boot repairs with certain set of commands..but still the issue is not resolved

4.And finally I got to know(from some experts) that some of my boot files are corrupted and tried to rectify it by typing a command <sfc/scannow> the output is said that the files are repaired and thus tried again to boot into ubuntu ..then also there is no use...

These are all very brief of my efforts..I wasted much of my time for this issue..but still I haven't got a solution....I would request the experts to look into this issue and help me dual boot with windows and ubuntu->..as it was a mandatory job for me

Computer failure after Office365 renewal

Dear experts, Is anybody could give me the truthful answer? Here is my cause: after 1 year and 1 week after purchase of my lovely laptop (just fresh out of HP warranty) my subscription of Microsoft Office 365 has been renewed. Right after that my laptop went dead - no power on at all. Fortunately it's been repaired under Costco warranty. But I'm wondering still: should I believe in such coincidence? Microsoft support just laughed at me obviously. But I don't believe in such coincidences, sorry.            My background: CNC service engineer working with computerized controls since DOS operating systems.
