touchpad disabled and cannot be detected

Blank screen at startup
Hello all,
My split won't boot. I get a blank blue screen at power up and nothing loads after that.
The charger is pluged in and the white LED flashes if that
may make a difference. Anyone have any ideas?

Win 8.1 to Windows 7 Premium
Downgraded HP 17-E021nr from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 Premium
Still don't have SM Buss Controller and Universal Serial Buss (USB) Controller Drivers?? loaded correctly
They show as other devices in Device Manager and say no driver loaded. System seems to function as designed. At least, now it communicates with my 2 Dell computers that are on Windows 7.

Cooling fan settings
Greetings all
I've got an HP / compaq Presasrio, and the cooling fan is constantly on. I understand the fan is necessary, but being constantly on, it puts an extra drain on the battery.
Is there a way to set the fan to only come on when needed, as opposed to starting at boot up, and running all the time?

I always get the BSOD during XP install (ACPI.sys).

How to disable "Fingerprint" profile name/image and still use fingerprint scanner?
Hello,
I've had my Pavilion dv7-7000 custom notbook build for a little over a year now and love it. I'm not really having a "problem" here, but more of just a little annoyance that I couldn't find a solution for. So, I setup the fingerprint scanner so I can login to my Windows account with just a quick swipe. It's worked great, however I don't like that now evertime I go to the logon screen it displays the "Swipe Fingerprint" profile with the fingerprint image. I want it to only show my normal account which has my custom name, custom profile image, and password promt while still being able to logon with my fingerprint.
I realize this might seem like a dumb question to some people, but to me it's kinda annoying.
I would really appreceate any help you guys can give.

I called tech support and all they want to do is sell me a new printer.
Can I use this printer with my new laptop? It works with other laptops I'm using windows xp and 7.

Downgrading my ENVY 15-j022el to Windows 7
Hello there,
I just bought the aforementioned Notebook and am going through the process of downgrading from the built-in Windows 8 to a brand-new Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
The computer has barely been turned on a couple of times, no hardware of software changes whatsoever.
Shame on me, I never would have imagined that the downgrading process would be so stressful when I bought the NB.
I searched a bit through the forums and it looks like I'm not the only one, so here I am begging for the gurus to please, please provide me with a short tutorial or something.
NOTE: this notebook does not come with a CD/DVD unit so I bought an external USB one - that's how I was planning to install the new OS.
Apart from this, here's another detail: I was planning to have both Ubuntu and Win7 on this machine running in separate disk partitions.
What should I do first? Downgrade to Win7 and then install Ubuntu or viceversa?
I apologize if these questions have been asked a million times already, but I didn't find an answer for my specific Notebook model and don't know if the ENVY 15-j033tx features the same exact hardware as the 15-j022el, so better be safe than sorry... in case you answered the same question somewhere else please provide me with the link and that's it.

How to flash BIOS without having HP Tools Partition
I have a G56-129WM that failed durring a BOS flash.
I tried the USB method - but it wouldn't work.
I am getting different results here - but not what I want.
With the USB plugged in: When I hold down Win+B - the caps light flashes for a lot longer now, it looks like it initializes the USB drive(green light comes on for just a moment) - but then nothing - just flashing caps lock for a bit and then finally a restart again into the doom loop. It never appears to begin to read the floppy disk or search for a bios file.
What am I doing wrong? What can I try? USB is name dHP_Tools? My BIOS file is renamed? Extracted the SIG file with Phenox tools.
Any help would be GREAT!!!!

Downgrading Pavilion 15-n287cl to Win7
Wife got a new Pavilion TouchSmart 15-n287cl and she detested Windows 8. I told her I'd downgrade her to 7 after she spent some time with it and hated 8... disabled Smart Boot, got Win7 installed just fine. Booted into 7 for the first time and tried to install drivers both from the disc and from a bootable USB and got told that none of the drivers would work. Curious, as I've never had issues in the past. So I went on the HP site and viewed the drivers for my product:
Nothing of value is listed in the Windows 7 options. Has anyone had a similar experience when downgrading/when trying to find Win7 drivers for a computer that came preinstalled with Win8?
