Hi,
I have a HP 6735s. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and everything works fine except for the brightness, which is stuck in low and can't make it brighter or change it at all.
This is a common problem and I found in forums that the solution is to upgrade the BIOS, but it doesn't work in my case. First of all, there is nothing for Windows 8 or 8.1 in the HP support & download page. The latest is Windows 7. So this laptop seems abandoned by HP by not providing specific drivers and updates for Windows 8-8.1. (see http://goo.gl/l15lUL).
So I try with the last BIOS update for Windows 7 that everyboy else is using, but I get this message that many others are also getting when running it:
"SYSTEM DOES NOT CONTAIN the NECESSARY WMI SUPPORT for this VERSION of HPQflash ". And that's it. I can't do anything else.
So, what can I do? I have to upgrade my BIOS or this laptop will be useless with low brightness forever.
I tried upgrading the graphics driver and everything on earth, but apparently only upgrading the BIOS is what works.
Please help, HP staff.
