windows update goes on forever
new HP notebook in Oct2015 with windows 10 pre-loaded. All ok until early 2016 but since then, about once per week, windows update just fails to complete. If I go to the security and settings screen I cannot move from the windows update icon and there is a line of blue dots flashing across screen. The laptop still works ok while this is happening although maybe slightly slower, the only problem is on shutdown sometimes I get a message that apps are still downloading and do I really want to shut down, if I don't say shutdown anyway it never does.
The way I get out of this is to do a system restore, which usualy ends in a massage saying it has failed to do so, but then I can update windows 10 to latest version and it updates itself ok for a few days before starting the cycle again. I don't have high speed broadband but download speeds are ok.
Anyone got any ideas?

How to power reset 840 G3 laptop
Hi! The 840 G3 appears to have a battery compartment that is secured by screws. Sometimes there is a combination of keys that can be pressed that will simulate the function of a power reset (powering the laptop down, removing the battery, pressing the power button for a length of time to drain capacitors, replacing battery, and powering up) so that users don't have to remove the battery. I've googled and found some key combinations for other HP products but can't find one for the 840 G3. Does anyone know of one?

El portatil no arranca. He hecho un system extensive test y falla hard drive short dst. Por lo que he visto en lis foros es posible que el disco duro este roto. He hecho chkdsk c: \r y no se soluciona. Pueden decirme algun disco duro para comprar y como arreglarlo yo mismo.

formating issue
i tried to download new window 7 OS through the windows website so i could format my system but this was the reply i received when i tired to varify my product. "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options." please can someone help me or tell me what to do, have sent mail to hp but have not recieved and reply from them. thanks

Windows 10 upgrade problem
I was using Windows 8.1 and everything in my laptop (1003-tx) was functioning perfectly.
I decided to upgrade my laptop to windows 10. I downloaded win 10 and selected to upgrade now.
It then configured the laptop for upgrade before restarting. And then the laptop turned off and started again. But this time it never changed from a black screen. It took more than half hour yet no change in the screen. Then I panicked and turned off the pc midway to see if it solves the problem. But the problem seems to have remained as it is.
I don't know what the problem might be.
Hope to find a quick solution.

Windows 7 drivers for 15-bc004ng
Hey there,
I'm planning to buy a HP Pavilion 15-bc004ng (http://www8.hp.com/de/de/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=11623451) in a few days but as many others I'm encountering problems finding appropriate drivers for Windows 7 x64.
1. Do drivers downloaded directly from the component manufacturers work or am I bound to the drivers released by HP?
2. Can s.o. provides links from other HP series to possible working drivers for HP Pavilion 15-bc004ng? Unfortunately I cannot provide any hardware IDs because I obviously do not own it yet.

New ssd is installed and working but not recognized
Hi again everyone. I just installed my new Samsung 850 EVO ssd and did a system image recovery. The computer is working just like it always did, but is NOT showing the new ssd when I click on Computer.
However, when I go into Disk Management this is what I see:
The disk is online but needs to be properly allocated onto C: drive. Can anyone tell me how to get this mess straightened out? Thanks once again to anyone who can help.

microsoft edge not opening
notice edge was taking time to open and on restart foud edge was unpinned. tried to open using other options but failed. decided to do a system restore but was unsuccessful and got an error, code: 0xc00021a which on researching found a solution. however, edge still can't open. can't open attachments in my mail box, getting an error too. please help!

Bios password unlock for HP 430 G2
Hi. I have prolem with resetting the password. I have HP 430 G2 laptop with BIOS password setup on it. Unfortunately I cannot remember the password that I´ve put on it. Is there any posibility to do a recovery to at least reset BIOS password? It is in briliant shape so it would be a terrible to throw perfectly working machine into garbage because of that.
Please help me resolve this.

I can't enable my WiFi
Hello
Ive not been able to enable my WiFi since sunday, ive tryed many different options as suggested in troubleshooters including; Restoring the BIOS, Restroing to a time were it did work, reinstalling the WiFi driver ETC.
I don't know what else to try and now my warrenty is said on the website to not be valid and i ahve to dispute this.

Installing Windows HP pro on the HP Pavilion Model No 11-n001sa
I have replaced the original hard drive, this had windows 10 installed.
This small laptop is idea for my Renault Clip software, so we need to install Windows XP pro.
I have tried different setting in the bios, XP is listed, so theres no reason for this not the install!
Using windows XP pro sp 2 & 3 installation disc, but keep getting the dreaded blue screen towards the end of the installation.
Come on HP I need your advise please.

Removing recovery partition after Linux installation
Hello
My x360 notebook with Windows 10 works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The partitions are as below. Partitions E, F, G are Linux.
I have these questions please:
1. Is the recovery partition (D) of no use any more, now that I have repartitioned the disk? (I made a recovery USB flash disk when I bought the computer)
2. Is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?
3. There is also a small 980 MB partition. What is this? Is it safe to remove?

Key Strokes
When i create a shortcut in Microsoft, e.g. F4 is the keystroke to open files then on my laptop F4 won't respond unless i hold the function key and F4 at the same time. Why do i need the function key and can this be eliminated
