Hi!

 

I got a Compaq CQ61 that won't boot. When I press the power button I get two blinks (CAPS LOCK and NUM), which indicates a BIOS corruption failure, and a black screen. I tried to hold the WIN+B keys while starting the computer, but it shuts itself down after about 7 seconds (I released the power button after 1 second). Then I created an USB drive with a BIOS restore, and did this:

 

• Pressed the WIN+B keys while pressing the power button
• Released the power button but kept holding the WIN+B keys until the computer starts beeping
• 3 beeps passed, and the computer shut itself down. 

 

I guess it happens anyways while pressing WIN+B at startup. Anyone know if I can start the BIOS restore in another way?

When i try to play DVD from the laptop, i am getting 'Insert disc' Window showing the message 'Please insert a disc into drive E:, 'Help me choose a disc' link follows the message. Then DVD drive ejects automatically.

 

The DVD drive of my Laptop ejectes aoutomatically with in 5-10 sec again & again. please help me to short this issue .

I purchased this model in 2012. recently i update to window 8.1 it works properly,now i want to upgrade to window10. can the system work properly after upgradation(drivers)..?

Hi,

 

I have just run Windows 10 Update and all went OK.

 

I then had HP Support Assistant notify me that there were New HP Updates to install which I did, but now I keep getting HPSA telling me that these updatesstill need to be Downloaded and Installed again and again.

 

Has anyone else had this and if so is there a fix for this problem.

Trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 the upgrade fails due to insufficient space in the Recovery Partition on drive D:

The size of the Recovery Partition is setup at factory installation by HP and it only leaves about 3GB which is insufficient for the Windows 10 upgrade to start as the upgrade begins by creating files in the Recovery Partition.

I do not want to delete the Windows 8.1 recovery files that already exist on the D:  Recovery Partition from the factory build and in fact I do not think the o/s will allow me to delete those recovery files.

Any help in how to complete the Windows 10 upgrade is appreciated.

My Spectre x2 keeps turning off automatically without warning, even when I'm just watching YouTube videos or using Facebook. There's nothing to signal that it's going to happen, it just goes to a black screen.

I really am not exactly sure what the name of my product is, nevertheless my problem is very specific:

I initially got an error message titled something along the lines of "logonui.exe application error" with a black background, I couldn't start my laptop back up so I went to recovery and just backed everything up successfully and went to reformat but it got stuck at 2% until it eventually said the recovery manager has stopped working, I tried just about everything until eventually my laptop just said "starting automatic repair" goes to a light blue screen, restarts and repeats over and over. I really cannot do anything at all it seems pretty much doomed. It seems like a virus but I really am not sure what I can do, if the only solution is to send it in for repair, is there anything I can try now?

I get the "HP Recovery Manager failed. Error code = 0xEFFFFF08" pop up whenever i try to recover and I am not using any USB devices.

I ran a Hard drive scan on UEFI and my results were:

I can't adjust the brightness on my laptop.

I have tried;

Method 01.

Open Windows Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound, then in the Power Options Section, click on

"Change power-saving settings." There's a slider to adjust brightness at the bottom of the window.

 

Method 02.

Open Windows Control Panel, open Windows Mobility Centre and adjust the brightness here

 

Method 03.

On most of the Notebooks, tapping F3 and F2 Key will often increase and decrease the screen brightness

 

None of which work.

After Update of Windows Insider Preview Build latest version of 160620 after sign in the windows just hangs and recovery drive didn't work so i made a clean os bootable usb during installion it didn't accept to install over current build so i have to wipe the primary system drive and installed the new clean windows 10 but on doing so the recovery partition became hidden and i cannot rollback to default os and after doing these now i dont have product key for windows 10 nor hp or intel software and more important has i bought these from online i cant recovery the windows key. so what should i do to get back to default Windows 10 that came wih my notebook.

Hi everyone,

We bought this computer and it does not appear to have a latch on the bottom  for a battery. I called HP and got no help. I am wondering if this is one of the computers that has a small 2 cell battery inside that can only be reached by removing the cover, if one has a problem.  Does any one else have a computer with this type of battery and how reliable is it and how hard will this be to maintain/repair?

I bought hp notebook pc a month ago and neither install many apps nor upgraded my windows but sill windows 8.1 (built-in) is working worst. The touchpad as well as keypad keep hanging every time and works only after restarting pc many times. No apps ain't running properly & performance is worst so kindly fix this problem. I'll be thankful to you.
