Hi experts
My relatives in China bought me this awesome ultrabook envy 4-1220tx as a gift. Which is very nice of them. or it would be awesome except it comes with win8. I tried it for about two weeks and I am sick of it.
It not only comes with windows 8 but is also in chinese. (not that i can't read chinese, but i am more comfortable in english).
so i want to install win 7 and wipe out the win8. I have a usb dvd rom with win7 64 bit dvd in it.
I have also enabled legacy mode and disabled boot security.
I have also downloaded a bunch of win7 64 bit drivers from the following hp webpage: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5350711#N1299
I put them on my usb stick, and rebooted the laptop, and set it to boot from the dvd rom.
but when the time comes to select drivers, it says it can't find the drivers for the hard disk.
Note that I have a 32gig ssd and a 500 gig hd.
so i am very confused as to why as the usb stick is connected and powered, but i can not see it on install option.
so the question is two fold:
1. am i missing a specifc driver? I got all the drivers from above link. so which driver should i try to find? the driver for SSD or the driver for the HD?
2. why does the usb stick not show up? could it because of the formate? It was FAT32, now i am going to try NTFS and see if it makes a difference. NTFS does make a difference, now at least the usb stick is viewable.
thanks guys
