I have a Pavilion ze4560us with XP Home SP3 freshly installed. I cleaned off all the factory 'extra-ware', you know all the stuff that they package with the OS. The computer runs lean and mean and loads up FAST. It has a new battery.
I do not know if this is a hardware, software, or firmware trouble so I have to start somewhere.
I am using a program called CallClerk to make the laptop into a telephone answering machine which it seems to do very well...
I have control panel POWER OPTIONS set to ALWAYS ON (screen stays on, hard drive stays ON, system stay awake)
Screen Saver is set to NONE.
Something is resetting power options to default laptop mode, shutting off screen, and hard drive, system goes to sleep.
[a] I come in and find the computer in a standby mode with all the top row leds dark.
[b] The front edge leds Power Mode and Battery are ON.
[c] The screen is dark until I hit the power button, then the computer wakes up.
[d] SCREEN SAVER is set to none.
Is the control panel Power Options setting saved in the registry or in the bios somewhere?
Could something in the bios cause this?
It resets EVERY DAY at no specific time so I cant catch it happening.
This has me tearing out hair and using curse words from my navy days.
HELP!!!
