Hello,
I am getting delivered on Monday the HP Pavilion 15-n274sa Laptop after trying to upgrade my old desktop from XP to Windows 7 (32 bit) and finding out that at five years old the old pc is not coping well and is going very slow and that the graphics I have keep giving error messages.
After purchasing the new Laptop I realised that the Windows I have just purchased is 32 bit so I have had to order another copy which is 64 bit (Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 64-bit Operating System OEM DVD).
I have just looked at the reviews for the laptop and it mentioned that someone had problems trying to downgrade from 8 to 7 and then I did some searches and found this forum.
I am now concerned after having to spend all this money, things going wrong with pc, getting two copies of Windows 7 that I will now have problems downgrading.
Please could you tell me if I can downgrade and the steps I need to take.
I can follow instructions but I don't know anything about which drivers and other things I need to do to ensure it goes smoothly.
I am presuming that I will get a disc of Windows 8.1 with the laptop when it arrives so if it all goes wrong I can reload Windows 8.1?
I have been very happy using XP and using Windows 7 for a couple of days has been fine and isn't a lot different, but I've read that many people are unhappy with Windows 8 and my son said to get Windows 7, which he has on his gaming pc.
Thank you in advance for any help and advise you can give, as I don't want to start something then get into more of a mess if it isn't possible.
Regards
