HP Support Assistant on my taskbar keeps telling me "Important Action Needed".
The important action is a BIOS update (SoftPaq sp59792, version F.53Ap01). I have taken the following steps several times, but the "Important action needed" message remains the same after each reboot.
- Open Support Assistant, where the BIOS update is selected.
- Click Download and Install Selected Updates.
- The update runs, and green check marks are displayed for the following steps in the update: Creating a restore point, Checking available disk space, Connecting to HP servers, and Downloading.
- There is no green check mark for the Installing step. Instead, there is an octagonal grey icon with a white X.
- Nothing further happens, but the Next button is enabled.
- I click Next, and am returned to the list of updates.
- The same update is still selected.
- I click to see the update details, where the message includes a statement that a reboot is required to complete the installation.
- I reboot.
- HP Support Assistant still says "Important action needed".
Is this BIOS update truly important, and if so how can I get it installed?
My computer is an HP Pavilion g7 notebook. Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1.
Thank you.
