HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook 15-4010nr with HP docking station and all necessary software and updates installed since purchase a year ago.
- I made the windows 8.1 upgrade when it first became available without any problems .
- I have been making all the suggested Windows upfates up until the last one about two weeks ago.
- After the latest 8.1 update and restarting the ultrabook I decided to also apply the two optional updates, one windows 8.1 and the other Intel WiDi update.
- During the Update the screen went blank and I had to force a shut-down after waiting almost half hour for it to come back.
- After that I started the notebook again and got the "Please Wait" and the "Choose your keyboard layout" screens. I chose the layout and in the following screen chose the "Continue" option.
- I can see the normal initial Windows 8.1 screen (the little dots moving in a circle) and then the screen goes blank and then stays like that until I force a shutdown.
- I have chosen the "Troubleshoot" options also with no luck. I have not been able to go back to the previous update.
- From another Windows 8.1 notebook connected to the LAN I have been able to access most of my documents to back them up and use it as if accessing any other PC. (unfortunately I did not share all folders)
- From this I concluded that the Windows 8.1 is working fine... It probably had a problem withthe latest WiDi update. The video card must be pointing to an unexisting display.
- I tried connecting a screen through the HDMI port with no luck.
Is there something that can be done to restart the screen settings? I also have TeamViewer installe, but need start it to gain access to it and maybe take control of the notebook. Is there something else you can suggest I can do to regain access to my ultrabook? I would not like to have to reinstall everything.
Thanks for your help
