First question: I checked the Compatibility Assistant for my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (P/N: B5S12UA#ABA) and it states that HP has not tested this PC with Windows 8.1. Is HP ever planning on testing this specific product for Windows 8.1 and/or planning on working on updated drivers for Windows 8.1?
Second question: After checking the Microsoft Upgrade Assistant and the Windows Compatibility Center, I found that the were no major compatibility issues with Windows 8.1, so I made the decision to upgrade. Since upgrading, the only issues I've had were with the fingerprint scanner and the 3d driveguard. I was able to resolve the issues with the fingerprint scanner. I was aware of the issues with the driveguard. Microsoft had directed me to an updated driver which I was unable to install. The installation file stated: "The HP 3D DriveGuard driver cannot install, the Accelerometer hardware is not present or supported on this unit." Since upgrading to Windows 8.1, the HP 3D DriveGuard settings are no longer in the Hardware and Sound menu. I tried reinstalling the Windows 8 drivers and was prompted to restart my computer, but still don't see the HP 3D DriveGuard in the Hardware and Sound menu. I checked the device manager and there are no conflicts with any of my devices. Is my driveguard working? If not, will there be a possible driveguard driver update in the near future, or will my product not be fully compatible with Windows 8.1?
