Note: I was initially writing this purely for my own laptop series - Envy 17 2xxx (mine being a 2002-tx) but it appears this is a problem for many other ranges of notebooks from HP...
Please provide an updated graphic driver set for the 2xxx range of Envy laptops. Not a single update was release for this range as far as I can see, that retains the basic functionality of the brightness keys or switchable graphics. AMD updates will break these basic functions, installing Windows 8 will also prove no available workaround exists for some of this range ( I am not even so concerned about this as it is a Win7 product, but it would be nice).
These laptops may be considered EOL but they are/were PREMIUM laptops that were never shown due respect with regards to their driver support. The graphic drivers on these machines are now the single factor holding them back. Programs have alerted me to the age of the drivers in use as they are dated back from 2011 and this is concerning and shows a lack of respect for the customers who bought your ‘premium’ product. I notice the envy line no longer appears to come with these premium guarantees, but it was certainly the case at the time of purchase and NO updates were ever provided.
Please provide at least one modern driver update for this series of laptops to bring them to the modern era. The hardware is still perfectly sufficient, the software is not. I do not appreciate needing to buy a new laptop to receive modern working drivers, there is nothing wrong with the hardware in this range.
