HDD broke, no recovery disc, can't install Windows 7

Hi!

My mother's HP laptop HDD broke. The laptop's warranty expired, so I bought a new HDD and replaced the old.

The computer had Windows 7, don't know which edition. My mother wants Windows 7 again. Where can I get an installation disc that will work with the Window's serial number (key) printed on back of the computer?

I downloaded a Windows 7 Home Premium installation disc from a website. I installed it, but it didn't accept the key.

What should I do? We don't want to buy another Windows. She already bought one with the computer, so we want to use it's key.

On the back it's written:

  • ProBook 4515s
  • Product: VC416EA#AKS

Thanks! :)

PS: I don't approve the use of non-free (proprietary) software, such Windows, but I'm helping my mother anyway. Non-free software restricts essential human freedoms, such as the freedom to share, collaborate and control your computer. I use only free software, such as the operating system Trisquel GNU/Linux.
