Hi,
I ordered a Crucial CT512M4SSD2 512GB M4 SATA III 6Gb/s MLC 2.5 Inch Internal SSD for my HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea laptop. Its being sent from Amazon at the moment and I am just wondering about the change over.
I have Windows 8 on DVD (laptop did come with Windows 7) and I am thinking of going for a clean install. I have some questions though :
- If I remove the existing Hard disk and replace it with the SSD and boot up with Windows 8 DVD - Will it install Win 8 on my SSD ok without coming up with an error like SSD needs to be formatted ? If it needs something like formatting I might get stuck as I only have space for one HD/SSD on my laptop.
- I'm going for a clean install to keep things clean and to a minimum but I do want to get the HP software and drivers that orginally came with my laptop copied over. For example there is Beats Audio and HP SimplePass that I will be missing and also I am worried about the graphics - I did upgrade the screen to 1080p so I am wondering about drivers. Everything is working fine at the moment but I don't know what happends when I do a clean install.
- I have an external 900Gb USB Hard disk (my laptop came with a 750gb internal hard dsik) used to back stuff up on. Should I just copy everything over to a folder on the USB HD or is there free software that I should use to make a back up. I have made backups before but they never really helped. I usually end up using a copy of my documents & music/pictures on the USB in a folder and then downloading all the software again.
