hp envy w050sa keeps restarting automatically

Hi I recently purchased the Envy 360 convertable which ran on windows 8.1 but instantly upgraded to windows 10 so cannot say if the fault is the upgrade or the device.. My device constantly shuts down and automatically restarts with no warning and doesn't give the option to continue where I left off as have to re-open all tabs and start afresh (very annoying)... Can anyone suggest anything before I contact PC world as only had the device 10 days.. I have done all the usual re: auto updates and have unticked the auto restart in device manager to get a log report but device still randomly auto shuts down and restarts.

Thanks

SP72936 Nvidia driver for Windows 10 - after hibernate and starting the OS screen stays black

Hi,

On a docking station I'm using external monitor together with the laptop display. When I hibernate and detach from the docking station the problem is when I try to start it, OS is running but the screen is black (blank). I've tried all options but only restart helps (or attaching back to the docking station, but it is not an option because I'm at the client site). This happens with new Nvidia drivers for Window 10 SP72936 - with old drivers everything is working fine!?

Windows Activation and Recovery Media Issue

$

Hi I bought envy 15 laptop from India and I currently live in NZ. I bought HP only because I was told that the worldwide support is pretty good.

Three days ago , my windows ran into an error ( blue screen of death) and it kept restarting in a loop. I wasn't sure what caused the problem. I called a HP authorised centre in Auckland and he said he can resolve the issue but I will be charged crazy amounts for the time. I wasn't happy there and chose to reset my PC settings to factory defaults as I had a back up. After the reset , I was able to set up my account and work on the operating system. However the system always prompted me to activate windows. When I click on " Activate Windows" it will take me to a blank screen and return to the start menu. Again after some time , it wanted me to activate windows and kept going to the blank screen. Amdist this, I was still able to use my laptop as normal.

To activate the windows, I understand that normally you will require a product key.

Since my laptop came with a pre installed windows, the product key is embedded in the BIOS and should automatically activate windows upon reset. But it din't do.

So I contacted HP Newzealand day before yesterday as I live here.

They initially said they will have to do a Minimised Image recovery. This did not complete and said restoration is incomplete. So then they said they will ship me the reovery media free of cost to my address in 4-5 days. They guaranteed that this is the only solution and it will solve the problem. The next day they call me and say that they can't send the recovery media and that I will have to contact India as that is where I bought the laptop. This made me furious as I had been patiently waiting for the past two days unable to do any work from my laptop.

But still I put it behind and I contacted the HP Indian customer care throught chat. I explained them the whole problem and also gave them the solution to the problem and I would want the recovery media to be shipped to my address in NZ. This lad Tanmay Karamakar unresponsibly asked me to contact HP authorised service centre in NZ ? I was like "what the heck " ... I  gave him all the details and he wants me to start all over this again. I told him that I will want to talk to the supervisor regarding this . The supervisor called me (only one good thing in the service).

He went on and on about the laws and they can't ship the disk to NZ. I was like what is going on ? HP NZ wants me to get the cds from India and India says they can't ship it abroad. Well the guys should understand here  that the customer here is the loser which is some thing they wouldn't want. The supervisor Subri says that he can ship the recovery disk to my relatives in India but they will have to pay  Rs. 600 for that. Oh well Are you kidding me ? I have paid aroung 65 Grand to buy the laptop with a pre installed OS. I have the license to work on a windows 8 platform for a lifetime . BUt still they want me to pay the money to get my system up and running ?

I am hugely disappointed by the poor service rendered. I haven't still figured out a solution for this. I am not willing to pay 600 RS for some thing that I own. I also don't understand why HP india can't support its own customer by just shipping the recovery disk ? What do you lose by supporting your own customer ?

Also a careless mistake from HP new Zealand has made my laptop like a useless piece of blok sitting in a table.

It has been three days like this already. If only they had tod me it is best to contact HP India, no body would have tried minimised image reovery and my laptop would have been normal for the next 27 days atleast.

Terrible service. Its a huge waste of time guys !!

hp pavilion x360 won't charge since WIndows 10 Upgrade

HI There,

Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 my HP Pavilion x360 has been a complete wreck. Including charging and sound issues. I've been able to resolve the sound issue by using device manager and uninstalling the drivers entirely. I have done the same for the charging problem but to no avail-restart after restart it refuses to charge. This 2-in-1 tablet/pc was purchased about a year ago. And has only had problems since the upgrade.

I do not feel comfortable removing the battery as the batter on this particular model is actually enclosed in the casing. As I mentioned I've uninstalled the battery drivers from device managers a few times.

Is there:

1. A way to get the battery to take a charge without removing it (i.e. troubleshooting site)

2. A way to roll they OS all the way back to Windows 7? I've tried rolling it back a few versions but I'm still in Windows 10.

Thanks for your help!

Game Problems

I'm not sure if my operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Sorry not as computer savvy as I wish I was.

I have had problems off and on ever since I got my new HP Envy laptop. I upgraded to Windows 10 hoping that would help. So far it hasn't. I'm still having issues. Periodically my computer can't find the internet when ever other piece of electronic equipment in the house can. In addition to that, now my computer won't open my games. It is not just one game either it is a number of them. Most of the games are downloaded onto my computer from Big Fish Games. I'm really regretting buying a HP computer. Never had these kinds of problems from my Toshiba. Please help if you can.

I deleted recovery partition...what to do.

Hi,

I wanted to uninstall my Windows 7 and install Ubuntu. I dformatted and deleted the Windows7 partition, BUT i deleted the HP Recovery partition too! (I know....)

Now I need windows 7 back, but when I go to Recovery (F11) nothing happens and it goes right to Ubuntu GRUB to choose my operating system and there is only Ubuntu as an option.

Is there a way to recover my original copy of Windows 7 that came with this notebook? Even if I have to uninstall Ubuntu.

Another question: does installing Ubuntu breaks any warranty rule?

Thank you for your attention.

Low game performance

Hi ,

So last sunday i recieved a new laptop and it's quite dissapointing how I basically can’t game on it because the lag I get every time I run any game even the small indie ones (Hacknet) its awful .The problem is that my envy is actually capable to run the game I play (Darksiders) on high. To be precise as I open it the loading screen takes like 2 or 3 minutes to start the game and once finally started , I’m staring at one frame per second.
I don’t know if it’s part of the problem but even regular desktop apps like utorrent and device manager look very bad .When switching between two desktops is not as smooth as my old laptop.

I’ve updated my nvidia graphics card but even then it just doesn’t seem to change anything.
My Nvidia doesn’t even take charge of displaying my desktop it’s the Microsoft based adaptor .
So I thought let’s run the games with the nvidia card but it still doesn’t work even after setting the nvidia card on the nvidia panel .

Laptop:

Processor : Intel Core i5-5200U CPU 2.20Ghz
RAM : 8GB
System type : 64 bit OS , x64 based processor.
Bios : F.02-05/11/2015
