We received the recovery stick from HP due to a problem.  But the problem stopped and we never did it.  That was last summer.  However, the laptop lost its wifi icon and ability to connect after an update.   We did a restore point and got the bsod.  So we were told to do a system restore.   It was late so I set it and went to bed since it was supposed to take 5 hours.  I came down to this.  This laptop has been nothing but trouble since we bought it and should have returned it immediately.  Lesson learned.  What do we do now?   Has this become a paperweight?

Hi, I recently bought a hp notebook model 15-da0139nq with i3-7100u and 4gb ram.

I installed Windows 10 Pro last build (build 1809) and works very slowly.

I did everything the HP virtual assistant told me to:

- downloaded HP Support Assistant and update all drivers with it(included BIOS and all Chipset drivers).

- defragmented, sfc /scannow, disk cleanup, paging file size, adjusting for best performance, scan for viruses

 

I think this is not normal for a new product to work so slow, even with all updates up to date.

Hi: 

I wish to pass my Laptop to another family member and I want her to change the HP information I had to enter when I first bought the computer to  information that relates to her. 

The problem is I cant find the page where I can make these changes. 

I remember having to enter three types of memorable information such as "What is the name of your first pet and what was the name of your first school". 

Can you guide me to the place where I can make these changes?

hi having trouble opening sky go app offline. contacted sky and they deleted and restored sky on my notebook but the problem was still there.contacted microsoft who did a restore but problem still there. so i put my computer back to factory settings hoping that would work but no.i can get into the app when online fine but offline you you click icon and nothing. sky have tried and microsoft dont know what else to do any ideas would be appreicated.thanks andi

After las Windows 10 update, I could start the system but I go a black screen. WinRe failed. Then I tried System Restore but if failed. After restart I only get the "System Restore Failed" screen.

I am about to go crazy here this thing can't be broken it worked a few months ago when I turned it on and I also did a factory reset erasing all my info because I was going to sell it. So now what?

I need the "Recovery Media" for the following machine: g7-1263nr. Product I.D.- "QE317UA#ABA" Serial #- "5CD1467XBY". HP of course does not offer it any more and the HD was replaced and now I need it. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Good day. I really need help. After resetting the BIOS to the default settings, the laptop stopped seeing the hard drive. Attempts to roll back to the default settings did not help. Help!

Soda was spilled on the keyboard of my HP Scarlet Red 15.6" Laptop, at first, the laptop would turn on and then display this error message on a black screen: "Boot Device Not Found", followed by a list of different tests I could perform.

Later (after trying several different fixes) the device stopped turning on at all, or even charging.

 

Any fix or is it permanently destroyed?

After Win 10 1809 update the trackpad stopped working. I cannot move the curser and if I click the trackpad it only right clicks. I can use an extrernal USB mouse but even that is spotty sometimes and the mouse dont register all clicks, it is like the PC is thinking and suddendly it works again. Same with touching the screen, the screen register the finger tab but it is not consistent in taking action ie. closing a window by hitting "X".  The settings in Synaptics seem weird and sometimes non responsive.

 

I tried:

- Checked for any other Win 10 updates

- Did all updates in "HP Support Assistant" - there was a few. Restarted several times.

- Turn the trackpad on and off in Synaptics.

- Double click top left corner on trackpad to enable/disable.

- Deleted the trackpad in Device Manager and let Win install a new driver. It does not work (19.3.31.31 not sure what revision, a,b,c)

- Deleted the trackpad  in Deveice Manager and installed the latest driver I could find. Does not work at all. (19.3.31.31 Rev.C). November 2018 It also says specifically 1803 on HPs website. There are also a few 2017 drivers but the system says its old when trying.

 

I'm running out of options. I have a suspection that the 360 degree setup might be confused to it turns off the mouse because it thinks it is in another "mode" but its not in tablet mode.

 

Any input?

 

Otherwise I'll roll back Win10.

Hi! Pavilion HP Pavilion dv7-6152er. I accidentally deleted the system restore files. When I turn it on it works 15-20 minutes and turns off. Wants will join but can't, it is necessary to wait for minutes 10-15. And in the beginning include how goes the writing: in a LUMP checksum is invalid. Hello all - I hope this is the correct board for these question.

I just purchased a new  HP 17-by0062cl Laptop from SAMS Club. I would like to format then partition it and setup to dual boot to Linux Mint and my own copy of Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I currently have my desktop configured in this manner but it is a home built from Newegg components and was not a store bought pre-installed OS PC.

In the past I owned a Toshiba laptop which i successfully partioned and setup a dual boot system but i painfully remember the issues in searching and downloading all of the misceallaneous drivers that Windows (XP at that time) did not have.

So......

Has anyone successfully setup there HP to dual boot and what issues did you run into?

Any Pros or Cons or advice is appreciated. Let me know if additional information is needed.
