I went through the test procedure outlined for hard drives and the result of the test was a hard disk failure. After using my 3 installation disks to recover the operating system and hard drive I got the very same original message to again reinstall the operating system and that the hard disk had failed. The hard drive was a Toshiba Model MQ01ABD100. It was 1TB. I had used less than 1/4 of the disk space. My question: Can I buy a used hard drive of any model and put it in the computer and have confidence that my three recovery disks will work. In other words will the recovery disks that I bought work with any hard drive. Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Action Keys (one-touch function keys) not working
I have recently re-installed the Windows 10 OS, reloaded drivers and updated the BIOS on my 10-p050na notebook. Everything works fine except that the Action Keys are now not working properly. I have to use the Fn key as well as the relevant f-key to mute, change volume, etc. The Action Keys setting in the BIOS is set as Enabled, and I have tried toggling it off and on without any improvement. Is there a specific Action Keys driver or utility, and if so where do I find it?
Restoration Incomplete
I want to restore my computer to factory settings.
So I used the HP Recovery Manager with the recovery partition data.
However I get the following message:
"Restoration Incomplete
The restoration did not complete.
Please select one of the following options:
Save log - Details - Retry"
If I click on "Details" appears the window in the image attached.
If I click on "Retry" the Recovery Manager restart.

HP "Chromebook" won't turn on
Hello,
I have an HP "Chromebook" given to me by a friend. The charging light is on, and white, but it will not turn on. The computer doesn't even try to start. I've tried the refresh and power thing but that won't work either. Please help! The PC has been dead for a while, but I don't know how long, or what it runs on. I've never seen the PC in working shape. Thank you!
HP Envy won't wake up from sleep
Okay, I am fully aware that this is a problem that has vexed many other users. I have spent many hours over the last two months trying to follow the advice of people here, but like many others, nothing is working.
I bought my HP Envy x360 about 8 months ago. From the very outset, I have had problems with the computer going to sleep after a period of inactivity, and then I can't do anything to wake it up. Shaking the attached wireless mouse, pressing or using the touchpad or the touchscreen, and hitting every key on the keyboard doesn't work. Ctrl-alt-delete does nothing. The only thing I can do it hold down the power button and force it to shut down.
I have verified that the keyboard driver software is updated.
I have gone to the "choose what the power buttons do" in the control panel and experimented with different settings.
I have changed the power mode/power settings.
I have gone to the Device Manager and checked the keyboard settings. Indeed, for one of the keyboards listed (there are 3, which I don't understand since I've only ever used the built-in keyboard), I have confirmed that the "allow device to wake up" button is clicked.
I have stayed up to date with all Windows 10 updates.
I have downloaded and installed all recommended HP updates. I have not installed all the optional updates.
I have updated the BIOS (but that was to try to solve a non-stop fan issue - which I will ask about in another thread).
Despite all these efforts, this still has not solved the not-waking-up problem. This is rather frustrating. I will acknowledge that I am not computer savvy at all, but I have done what I can to find solutions on this forum and elsewhere.
Any help?

HP Pavilion Struggling to Boot
For a few months now my laptop has been struggling to start. It had been very temperamental in the sense that you would have to keep holding on/off for 10 - 15 times before it would boot and then it would work fine until it went to sleep and you'd have to manually restart it. I've not used it in a couple weeks and now it's even harder to start. When I finally manage to get it to turn on it gives me Windows Troubleshooting options such as 'use different operating system', repair, restore, use USB etc. None of which will work as it just turns the screen to black after a while. It's not even 3 years old yet!!
I've had the message 'the selected boot device failed' which then took me in to a setup utility. The system failure log just has '090B' alongside about 20 times that this failure must have occured. Any idea how to solve this?
