I received the error message that the hard drive failed and to reinstall the operating system.  I have 3 installation disks that I used to reinstall the system but after reinstallation I still get the message that the hard drive has failed.

I had to remove the SSD recovery partition because updates in Windows 8.1 had maxed out the OS partition space (It would be nice if MS would get all of the bugs out of an OS before they market it so this would not happen.).  I used GParted and then formatted the SSD with Windows USB load and installed Windows 10 on the whole SSD drive.  That gave me about 8GB more space on SSD.

Today, I Just wanted to go into BIOS and set booting sequence, but BIOS demanded I enter Administrative password.  HUH?  When I had the HP issued 8.1 installed, that was not an issue and was never demanded.  I had already stopped MS from trying to update the SSD because it was way to small with the recovery partition in place.  That is the reason for the clean install of updated Windows 10.  I had no problems until I attempted to make a change in BIOS.  That is when it hit the fan.  What is the method of getting into the BIOS wihout my having any idea what the password is?

I checked with HP Assistant, and there is no listed update for BIOS.

I'm wondering when an update to the Intel graphics drivers will come out as this is required to update to Windows 1809, which was released in October (which was pulled after a data deletion bug) and November. This came up previously in another post from October, and nothing seems to have happened since then.

The TL;DR is that Intel's display audio driver doesn't work properly on Windows 1809, and so Intel released an update to the graphics drivers, which contains the audio driers, in early November. However, because HP customizes the graphics drivers, it can't be installed.

It's been two months since Intel released the update, and so I'm quite disappointed in the lack of software support, especially for such a high-end device.

When attempting to update to Windows 10 build 1809, the laptop always suffers from a BSOD after the restart. I have tried the following:

    - Attempted to update normally

    - Restored to HP original disk image and then updated

    - Used the "fresh start" option in Windows 10 then updated

    - Created a new Windows 10 boot USB with build 1809, formatted the SSD, and then did a fresh install

    - Did a fresh install of build 1803, then attempted to update

All of these have the same result; for the third one left the computer in a state where it was unable to get into Windows so I had create a boot USB with build 1803 to recover it. I am open to any suggestions to get this to work.

Hi community. I performed a system recovery because machine was too slow. Finally, the procedure left the computer not booting up. I contacted support and they provided me with a recovery USB drive. I plugged in the USB media, and did a system restore option (ESC  to get to the menu and then F11 - System Recovery). The notebook started to open screens. Then a window pops-up showing the following message "ERROR - This computer is not supported by the system Recovery Media - You will not be able to recover this system with these media - Error: 0130-AKH-ABM". I also formatted the drive, but no success. Any ideas? The files in the recovery media are from 2017. Could be a bios issue? I have the latest one F18 Rev. A. Should I downgrade it? Looking for your answers. Thank you!

The screen suddenly froze up and the colors got all weird. I, of course, panicked and shut it down and unplugged everything. Now every time I try to turn it on the screen stays black and all the keys blink on and off. I've tried a hard/ forced reset but it hasn't worked or I've done it wrong. I'm not sure what model it is but I know it's a fairly new one.

(Really sorry if I chose the wrong board, I just made this account as  I couldn't find any help that worked by simply googling the issue)

  • 01/04/19--21:19: Laptop keeps restarting
  • Hi,

So just yesterday I was playing games and then my laptop suddenly restarted. This has still been going on and I noticed that once I log in to the computer, a couple of minutes - an hour will pass when it will restart again. Once it turned off, the power button would blink several times and then take me back to the login screen. Sometimes it would restart at the login screen as well.

Recently I updated my BIOS and in the msinfo32 section, it still displayed old BIOS. I didn't really think much of it. I also tried installing new drivers as I haven't done so since I got the laptop in early 2015. When I pressed f10 and was in BIOS screen, my laptop would randomly restart there as well. I would also like to mention that about 3 to 4 weeks ago, I got my laptop repaired for my keyboard.

    • I tried cleaning the vents
    • Turning automatic restart off
    • Made a key to stop automatic restart on regedit
    • Took battery out and held the power button down for 1 minute

  • Hi! I turned on my PC & has a blue screen: your PC ran into a problem, and then... Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC

My laptop started an update from the Windows 7 operating system to Windows 10. In the midst of the update, the battery ran out and the laptop died. I turned it back on, but now it seems to be stuck between both operating systems, trying to start and saying it is "restoring your previous version of Windows", but then dying and starting again. How do I hard reset or something? Anything? I don't care what OS it is I just want it to work!

I have tried removing the battery, draining all power out and rebooting, and it is still doing the same thing (trying to start both operating systems).

    Hi,

I recently cloned the samsung 860EVO SSD to a Toshiba 1T SSD using Acronis,

Everything works however i noticed that the user screen that used to appear is no longer appearing and its taking longer to load the desktop, attached is a screen shot of disk management with both disk,

i read so many articles about recovery partition missing and system not booting up from there instead of c drive,

Any suggestions to getting the way it used to be on the new SSD?

    thanks

Hp recovery manager is not available on new hp pavillion cs1000tx,One day, after buying and setup the os ,I thought of backing os in a USB or DVD drive  as I usually do,but there is no recovery manager ,so I called hp technical support for the recovery manager,so I asked them," they have asked to send some snapshots to them like "DISK PARTITION, MY PC, BIOS SETUP".Which I did ,after that they said "YOU HAVE DELETED D DRIVE ",which in my case I haven't done .

Afterthat HP technician said "they found that partition D drive was not there, and they accused me, so they will not deliver the  os free of cost,There wasn't a D drive when I intialized the pc.they further said that they still send me a copy ,but you have to pay for the handling and shipping charges for the problem which i have got nothing to do with.

Unfortunately ,There is a lot of similar complaints regarding hp laptops with no D drive  partition existed in the first place.its a good way for hp  ,to accuse and punish someone GUILTY for the {act}"CHARGE"  that they haven't commited.

                                               "LOYAL CUSTOMERS-DISLOYAL HP SERVICES"

HP-  better to take the money than simply providing the necessary application preinstalled offline in laptop
