GREY SCREEN - ONLY.  

15" Touch laptop, Core i5, 8GB. Model # da0021cy. with Optane and Windows 10 dont know the bit.

Bought new off QVC.  last week.  

When I turn it on I only get a blank grey screen.  When the computer turns on the HP shows up then wording in the top left  corner flashes quickly: 

 

The operating system did not shut down Cleanly.

Reconstructing Cache Metadata

Please do not interrupt this process.

 

Ive left the computer on for over 15 hours plus. Ive even done a few hard shut downs.

Its seems to be stuck.   How do I get past the solid blank grey screen ? 

 

What can I do?

A friend gave me thier old notebook was running win 10 was original win 7.

First thing I do when given used computer is a factory reset to remove everything.

Now it says operating system wasnt found.

Tried to get into bios to reset that way but it will not respond past list of option.

Hello smart ones, have a question were can I find the pci driver & usb controller drivers for Windows 7 64bit on a HP LAPTOP 15-BW0XX. I have looked any help would be greatly apprecited. the laptop had win 10 before that. Thank You for your time and help.

I tried doing a factory reset on my hp stream notebook 11 and the screen just went black then to the hp logo then back to the go screen. It’s just keeps repeating. If I turn it off, then on, then F11 I’ve tried all the options there and nothing works. It always says that it tried but failed. Please help

I just bought envy 13 ( i7, 16GB ram, 512GB SSD)two weeks ago, and I noted the laptop waked up slowly ( around 10s) from sleep mode. The keyboard light turned on quickly but the monitor took 5-8 second to turn on. My 5 years old laptop can wake up in 1-2 second..... 

 

Could you please give me some suggestions to fix this problem? I don’t wanna pay 1000£ to get the laptop which is slower than my old kits.

I installed a software named "phoenix os", which asked me to reboot my laptop. When clicked reboot, it restarted my pc to grub console and said kernel isn't loaded. I did nothing further and tried to reboot to my windows and see some help. But whenever i tried to boot into my windows it said " an unknown software or hardware has been installed. To keep device away from further damage windows will now shut down" or something like that. Then I tried to setup windows 10 through usb boot stick. But windows setup shows no drives in my hard disk. And says "we couldn't find any drivers. To get storage driver, click load driver." Which driver should i use? I don't know anything about it. Please help me

I got this message saying I need to uninstall it, but when I click on the 'uninstall' button, it does nothing. Are there any solutions to this?

Hi,

 

I bought this laptop a month ago and I upgraded it with a WDS512G1X0C. So far

live was good but ugly in F.07 rev a, and I decided to try to solve the ugly piece

upgrading the firmware to F.31 rev a. This step rendered the laptop unusable, just

after loading the system it will freeze with not other operation possible. On this way

I decided to try a lower firmware and laptop doesn't accept any former version any

longer, no matter if I try from windows directly, or HP Diags uefi on a usb stick.

 

On windows side it will simply tell the firmware is older so it's not intended for the

configuration of your laptop. On HP Diags UEFI, I'll need to choose the bios file which

unpacks in 4 files, 2 bins, 2 sigs. If I choose the lowered number bin it will complain

in not having a signature, if I take the greatest, it will tell something similar than

windows.  I tried also the 4-in-1 usb that I see, per firmware it does include a p12 and

p14 file that seems to be missing on my firmwares, but this stick doesn't seem to

have envy x360 support yet.

 

Any hints how can I do the downgrade is appreciated.

The charging system is not working properly.  Tried uninstalling Microsoft AC Adapter, and Microsoft ACPI - compliant method battery  and restarting the laptop.  As expected the two devices were auto reinstalled and the charger worked for a few minutes but stopped again.  I did not disconnect the battery.  Any tips?

it just will not boot to windows and we have tried to reset it, but it just comes up to hard disc error.  doing a hard drive check now.

Hello All,

I want to add an ssd as my os boot drive for better speed , the question is how do i transfer my os from hdd to sdd, Do i have to clone the drive or transfer it somehow, please help. And how do i get to set the laptop to take boot from ssd only.

P.S- i have my recovery drive.

i have had the tablet put away for a long time. battery was completely dead. i charged it up completely and upon turning on i have to pick language and country, so i pick english/united states. then it goes to network for wifi, my internet network shows on list, i enter password, it connects then disconnects with window saying "please visit "http:/hpwebos.com/support" to help resolve this problem
