Need to activate Windows 8.1
I had to replace the hard drive from my ProBook 450 and reinstalled the Windows 8.1 operating system. Now, I'm trying to activate Windows but can't find the key anywhere on the laptop. I used a generic key I found on Microsofts website in order for the install to work but now need my real key to activate it. Pretty annoying it's no where on the laptop itself. Can someone help???

Help Bios update needed for Pavilion DV6500 32 Bit
Hi There
Rather than my laptop being absolutely useless limping along with ancient Vista - I wiped it and installed windows 10
I thought all was well but I am getting randon BSOD's and I believe it is due to the bios which would benefit from being updated. Also some of the chipset, card reader drivers etc are not working and windows 7 ones not working so hoping a bios update might help this too.
I understand I may have to go back to Vista to do this and then re-install windows 10 after flashing bios
and best case scenario would be latest compatible bios version intended for windows 7 I think??

HP Spectre x360 -13-4003dx not charging
I sent in issue on 11/26 and received a case #5023706631. Never received a call or email from HP. The laptop was working fine. Plugged in power adapter and didn't see a charging indicator on screen. While I still had enough power left ran Battery self test and it state battery was okay. This is ridiculous that I have a 3 year old laptop, that's working fine, but apparently the connection of adaptor plug to motherboard is faulty. This laptop has been sitting on a desk for the last few years and was handled very carefully. Looking at other comments with this product it appears to be bad design. How can I get this repaired?

Service help
I paid the $25 for the 6 day express service on my laptop. They have had my laptop since November 26th and it still not showing that it will be shipped until December 10th. I'm am so unhappy right now with hp service. You cant call a number and get in touch with anyone and the virtual assistant is useless. I want my money back. What did I pay for? I paid for express because I need my computer. I could have gone the free route and got it back just as slowly. One unhappy HP customer.

hi i recently changed my hard drive and now have no o.s.
hi and thank you in advance. i have a hp pavilion dv9000 and recently i changed my harddrive from an hdd to an ssd. i tried to backup my old drive to a usb in case something went wrong. now my new ssd in my laptop says no o.s. and the usb said it had an error and formatted itself thus losing my info. the old hardrive i cant get to work which is why i changed it. im just trying to get my laptop working again. any help will be appreciated. i think it was running vista 32 bit

Cannot access new laptop
I just bought this laptop set it up and have used it a few times for a steam game. I am not less than a week after buying it unable to login. At first it was not accepting the pin I set up and I am still getting an error on that but I can login with my email and password. When I login I get a black screen with just a mouse floating. I have tried restoring and I get an error that it cannot be completed. I have tried entering safe mode, that is not working. Not sure what else to do

Caps light blinking
I just truned on my laptop and the display won’t come up. Instead the fan is running full speed and my caps light is blinking with 3 long blinks while 5 shorter/faster blinks. How should i fix it? The laptop is brand new.

Need to upgrade drives, UEFI, BIOs then make everything work and reinstall Windows 10.

Cooling Fan not working error
My computer froze up and quit working. After reboot, I received an error that indicated the cooling fan was not working and needed to be repaired/replaced. Has anyone experienced this and must I take it into a certified HP service center?

Windows 10 - COM+ is unable to talk to MS DTC because of HP Hotkey UWP Service
Hi,
this is not truly a question, I just want to share my experience and maybe save someone who has the same problem some hours of browsing the forums.
I have found that after bunch of Windows updates in november, the MSDTC (Distributed transaction coordinator) stopped working. Everyone with HP Elitebook 840 G4 and G5 was experiencing the same problem.
The symptom beside of non-working distributed transactions are, that if you go to the Component Service management dialog Component Service->Computers->My Computer, you'll see My Computer icon has red arrow on it, which means it is basically down. If you then click on COM+ Applications, you'll get message that COM+ is unable to talk to MS DTC and error code 0x8004E00F.
To be short, after endless googling, messing with settings and registry modifications, I ended up disabling services that resemble HP user experience tools and drivers, because this kind of utilities and driver services was mentioned on the various forums as one of the more common causes of this problem.
It ended up that when HP Hotkey UWP Service is the cause. When it runs, MS DTC is down, when it is disabled, MS DTC works. So in my case, it stays disabled from now on.
The real problem is the sneaky nature of this issue. You (and your entire team/company) will get this bug silently into your OS via Windows Update and you'll never know it's broken until you need it (and you don't have the time to fix it).
Maybe this problem will reach someone from HP (I haven't found any BUG submit form or anything to directly let anyone know) and they will repair the service.

Windows update 2018 issues
My laptop did an update last week and it doesn’t work. The only option I can use is ctrl alt del to access task manager, I cannot even get into safe mode, but have done scans sfc and dism for which the laptop says no corrupted files or something like that. I cannot access the windows icon to use apps or shut it down properly. I was going to do a clean install when I decided to chat to Microsoft. They said it’s an ongoing issue as I have a message pop up about C windows 32 system profiles unavailable. Is anyone else had this and contact Microsoft

Notebook won't turn on from standby
I have just purchased a new HP Stream X360. When it is turned on it works fine, but if I leave it for a period of time and the screen goes off I can not turn it back on. The power button will flash and when I touch the mouse or a key the power button light will be solid but the screen does not come back on. The only way to turn it in is to hold the power button for three seconds until the notebook shuts down and then turn it on again.

HP elitebook falls asleep during SCCM TS
Hi,
I'm facing an issue with SCCM and this model Elitebook X360 G3. During the TS it falls asleep twice, you need to awake it before it continues.
PWRCFG /s option is in place, hibernation option disabled.
Anyone seen behaviour this before and do you have a solution or possibilities to check ? ?
