    Performed system REFRESH (not reset) on teenage daughters laptop. Like so many her age, everyone thinks they are pc expert. She uses her laptop mostly for school but for a few years now she has been writing 3 books. While most teens do what they do, my daughter writes for entertainment, no games, no dark web etc. She's a good kid. Doesn't even text on her phone. Two users on machine. Backed up files on stick drive but user 2, my daughter not saved.  other then setting up user accounts after refresh, laptop has not been used for the most part in an effort not put anything on the machine. Although I've tempted, I have NOT tried any recovery software yet.I just have to recover these files. PLEASE HELP she'll be heartbroken and I already feel like the absolute worst parent i the world and have lost sleep over this.

    Hi, I just replaced my laptop's DVD drive with an SSD. I deleted the earlier windows partitions along with the recovery. Now when I install windows on the SSD, the recovery partition get created on the HDD. How can I make sure it gets installed on the SSD? I want this so that I can copy from the SSD independently with the HDD.

    Note, I'm talking about my laptop and I do not wish to open it to disconnect the hdd.

    How can I locate my productcode for windows, I need to reinstall it and my harddisk got wiped.

    I recently purchased a HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 from a private person and noted that BIOS needs update. When I try to run BIOS update file it asks for a password.


    How can I reset this password? The computer is configured to use UEFI and I can boot it using a USB.

    The notebook have black screen. The power botton is on. I cant see nothing in the screen.

    I am unable to update to windows 10 because I "need more space"  but I have deleted what i can and it still isnt enough. I tried reaching out to HP tech support on Twitter and they were no help.

  • I replaced the slow hdd that came with the laptop with a 1 TB ssd from another older laptop. Both had the same Windows 10 Home and after the replacement all boots up fine.I did it that way to avoid re-installing all my software and programs and everything was owrking well in the old laptop.

    But, the old laptop is a Toshiba and came with its Toshiba drivers for older hardware.
    So I want to install the original drivers that originally came with the HP laptop for its hardware. I know where to find them:
    but on that website there are multiple versions of the same drivers and I don't know which ones to download.
    The Windows that transferred was release 180410-1804. How do I decide which are the correct drivers for my laptop which is HP Pavilion - 14-ce0068st.
    I tried HP support but chat is not available now.
    I would appreciate any help. Does anyone else have this laptop?

    Please help! I have wpied my laptop, tried the F11 but no recovery of anything, will not reboot. I have no disk or USB - how can i get the computer to operate again? Is there something i can do next?

    my hp does not start I tried to reset but it is not possible either it remains in 50% the restoration does not allow me to initiate mode failure test.


    before it only stays in the hp logo and it is restarted but it does not start

  • Recently purchased a notebook Envy 17t with window 10 pro.  Found out some of the automation software I need to run won't work on Windows 10.  Can I install Windows 7 professional on the Envy 17t notebook?

    Can not get on the computer to run and asks or administrator password or power on password.  When I put in a fake code 3 times I receive a system disabled code (i 51825984)


    Would appreciate any help.  The computer is just a year old and they want $500 to fix it.

    Hp has send me the recovery media in DVD for the laptop which doesn't have optical drive. And the customer executive is telling that because of "COST CUTTING" Hp is not giving you recovery in USB.

    I have had my laptop for two years now and I have not had any issues. Within the last week, my laptop's fan will not turn off at all. As soon as I open the lid of my laptop, the fan is going off at full blast and only stops for about a minute before resuming. I have reset my laptop to the original settings and installed any updates that I saw but I haven't seen any changes. It is really loud and embarrassing because I use this laptop in my class at college and now it is so loud and distracting I don't feel comfortable bringing it. My teacher even asked what that loud noise was. 


    If anyone has any advice for how to make my fan stop spinning all of the time, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello. So I havent had any problems with my laptop up until today. I was leaving for work and went to hit the "shut down" option on my laptop. The screen went black for about 3 seconds and immediately brought me back to the login screen where I would put in my code to enter the laptop. I tried this 5 times with the same results. So I just ended holding down the power button to shut it off. I just got home and tried to turn on my laptop. When I did, it asked me to select a country, US, and I did. Then it directed me to a blue screen with troubleshoot and turn off your PC. I tried to go to the recovery manager and do a full system reset but system recovery is greyed out and wont let me click it. I've tried to run the maintence and nothing worked. I'm very confused as to why out of no where my computer did this. I have downloaded nothing within 3 or so months and I really need to use my laptop. any help would be appreciated. Aka my computer doesn't load up and goes to recovery mode. Thanks in advance.

    I'm start using this PC 2 days ago.

    Every 1-2 hour a bluescreen happen (more ora less 5-6 time in two days) , i have tried to update using HP Support Assistant, but the problem persist (i have seen a lot of update from windows 10).
    This morning i have to reinstall Windows 10 becaure wireless were lost at all (no component availble in network manager)
    Last blue screen leave in wrong state a VM Vmware that was in use (not a stressful situation for CPU, load average wa 15%), so i lost all of the work done in the morning....(luckily i have a backup of yesterday)
    I don't  know if VMWare player (last version available)  could cause this problem, but seems strange i use vmware player on a lot of notebook desktop and it work fine.

    Any idea or simply we have to sent back to support?
